Okay, so, if I understand things right, ratings can only be influenced by this part of the audience who have a Nielsen-box, right?
But what about their "Hey! Nielsen!"-site?
http://www.heynielsen.com/Quotes from their "about"-site (
http://www.heynielsen.com/about/ ):
"...it's a way for you to influence the TV and movies you watch, ..."
"...You, plus the exclusive access and power of Nielsen means that your opinions not only reach millions of people via the web, but may also reach the media moguls who decide what goes on the air and on the web. The more heat your postings generate, the greater the chance your opinions will land on the most influential inboxes in the biz as we will be inviting select Hey! Nielsen members to take part in sneak previews and other invite-only events..."
"...Participation in Hey! Nielsen requires little more than a strong opinion and a valid email address to get going. Hey! Nielsen runs on your enthusiasm and energy ... Want to see your opinions make it to the front page and influence others? Then get posting. ..."
"... Using data from real users, Hey! Nielsen generates a Hey! Nielsen score -- a real-time indicator of a topic's impact, influence, and value...."
And visiting this site
http://www.heynielsen.com/view/stargate-atlantis/ begs the question, why aren't we *flooding* their site with our input and make the cancellation of Atlantis a top-topic?
I can't think of something easier than this.
It's so easy to sign up for the site, to create an opinion, click on everything that will Atlantis do good (ratings, likings etc etc), agree with others who have already voiced their opinion.
So, why haven't we done this already?
